Commemorating World Environment Day, HELLENiQ ENERGY launched a month-long series of consecutive initiatives, driven by a deep respect for the environment and a steadfast commitment to its protection. These initiatives are part of our comprehensive Corporate Responsibility Program, placing particular emphasis on the promotion of sustainable practices that contribute to the preservation of Greece’s natural heritage for future generations.
As part of these efforts, over 1,000 primary school pupils from primary schools in Thriassio and West Thessaloniki participated in bespoke educational programs implemented in collaboration with the organizations Agoni Grammi Gonimi, THE BEE CAMP, and MIO – ECSDE. Activities focused on key environmental topics—such as biodiversity protection, the water cycle, the impacts of climate change, and the vital role of bees as essential pollinators -crucial for the reproduction of most plant species.
Through interactive workshops and group games, children were able to deepen their understanding and develop a more personal connection with nature. Creating objects using natural materials such as clay, soil, and seeds helped further strengthen that connection, nurturing a sense of respect and care. We place particular importance on educating younger generations, recognizing that cultivating environmental awareness from an early agefosters the emergence of future “environmental ambassadors.”
Alongside education, we actively encourage volunteerism, organizing beach clean-ups in partnership with local authorities and under the guidance of the nationwide volunteer movement “Save Your Hood.” These events took place on the shores of Aspropyrgos (West Attica) and Kalochori (West Thessaloniki), with over 170 employee volunteers and their families, participating with enthusiasm and a shared sense of responsibility. The results were tangible, with more than 1,500 kilograms of waste and 5,570 cigarette butts collected. These efforts improved coastal cleanliness, strengthen community spirit and civic engagement, and highligthed the importance of collective action in safeguarding marine environments.
Environmental protection is a cornerstone of HELLENiQ ENERGY’s corporate culture, with sustainable development embedded as a core strategic priority. In 2024, showcasing our commitment to shaping greener, more sustainable urban areas, we completed the creation of two parks in the municipalities of Megara (West Attica) and Delta (West Thessaloniki). These projects have already had a measurable impact on residents’ quality of lifeby enhancing urban greenery and improving local microclimates and supporting biodiversity.
Guided by vision and responsibility, we continue to implement initiatives that call for active participation and collaboration, - contributing meaningfully to the development of greener, healthier, and more inclusive cities. At the same time, we incorporate ESG criteria into our business strategy and, through targeted action and innovative solutions, we promote best practices across all areas of operation, setting a clear path toward a more sustainable future.
