Flights with sustainable aviation fuels from Athens International Airport Airlines by AEGEAN and HELLENIC PETROLEUM

Athens International Airport reduces its carbon footprint and strengthens its position amongst Europe’s greenest airports.

AEGEAN and HELLENIC PETROLEUM are moving onwards with their joint strategy and planning for a more environmentally sustainable air transport and as of today will be able to power flights departing from Athens International Airport with a SAF blend.

Following the first successful supply of “Hydrant" - airport's refueling supply system- with SAF blend, provided by EKO, HELPE's subsidiary, AEGEAN has the option to fuel its aircrafts departing from Athens with sustainable fuels, while Athens International Airport reduces its carbon footprint and strengthens its position amongst Europe’s greenest airports.

SAF (Neste MY Sustainable Aviation FuelTM) are produced by NESTE, using 100% renewable waste and residual raw materials, such as used cooking oils and animal fats waste, that reduce CO2 emissions by up to 80% compared to fossil jet fuel, throughout their life cycle.
