Three fully accessible playgrounds with RES elements have been built by HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group, for kids with special needs

Three (3) fully furnished playgrounds were delivered today by HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group to the municipalities of Aspropyrgos, Elefsina, and Ampelokipi - Menemeni. The study, planning, and implementation of the playgrounds were done with a primary focus on ensuring that they are safe for use, particularly by kids with special needs, and that their environmental impact is reduced through the use of Renewable Energy Sources technologies.

This particular donation is another targeted effort by the HELPE Group to upgrade local infrastructure; it is supported by the "Greece 2021" Committee and is listed on the National Calendar of Actions and Events for the 200th Anniversary of the Revolution. This is due to the fact that, in addition to being functional, accessible playgrounds also represent modern Greece as a society that is evolving and upholding ideals such as respect, inclusion, and the need for everyone to advance without discrimination or exclusion. Furthermore, the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group has decided to upgrade and prolong its support to the Hellenic Paralympic Committee as a "Major Sponsor" for the upcoming three years, in response to these same admissions.

The three (3) new playgrounds were designed and built based on the strictest criteria and specifications regarding the safety requirements for the equipment, safety equipment, and their installation, while all of them have received certification of compliance with the applicable standards. They promote creative and experiential play, with an emphasis on full accessibility for children with special needs, creating spaces for interaction and joint play for all children, with total respect for diversity and disability. At the same time, during their creation, Renewable Energy Sources technologies were used, such as solar lights that annihilated the operating costs for the municipalities, acting as a permanent reminder of the need to save energy and utilize modern technologies for the energy transition. The interventions that took place gave new life to the areas as modern places of hospitality and inclusiveness for children and parents in the wider area of each municipality.
