EKO promotes Road Safety with two events in Crete

Open events in Heraklion and Chania focused on safe driving behavior, the new Highway Code, and life-saving practical experiences.

EKO, a member of HELLENiQ ENERGY and a leading force in the Greek fuel market, is organizing two open informational events on Road Safety seminars in Heraklion and Chania. The events are held under the auspices of the Region of Crete and the Municipalities of Heraklion and Chania, as part of the EKO Road Safety initiative and the Corporate Responsibility strategy, aimed at public awareness and accident prevention through responsible mobility -an effort to reduce traffic accidents across Crete.

Admission is free for all attendees.

Event Schedule:

  • Monday, 6 October, the Capsis Hotel, Heraklion, 19:00
  • Tuesday, 7 October, the Mikis Theodorakis Theatre, Chania, 19:00

Speakers & Moderators

The discussions will be led by two distinguished experts:

  • Takis Pournarakis, President of Motor Sport Greece,
  • Yiannis Lionakis, President of the Voluntary Association for the Prevention of Traffic Accidents.

Their presentations will offer a comprehensive view of the critical issue of road safety, including updates to the new Highway Code, recent accident statistics and key insights into improving driver behavior. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain useful knowledge and engage in open discussion on how to foster safer driving habits.

A highlight of the events will be the presence of Paralympian Antonis Tsapatakis, whose personal story serves as a powerful reminder that every decision made on the road can make a difference.

Additional Activities:

Starting Sunday, 5 October, in central locations in Heraklion and Chania, the public will be able to take part in interactive quizzes, test their knowledge of responsible driving through engaging, hand-on activities. All participants will receive commemorative gifts with the message "Drive Responsibly."
